Sweet Marjoram

Sweet Marjoram - Origanum majorana

Sweet Marjoram is a tender bushy perennial plant that has dark green leaves and hairy stems. This very aromatic plant is native to the Mediterranean region, Egypt and North Africa. The pale yellow essential oil is steam-distilled from the dried flowering plant. Its fragrance is typically a warm, woody and spicy scent.

Known primarily as a culinary herb, sweet marjoram has valuable medicinal qualities, particularly its stimulant and antispasmodic properties. It can help with flatulence, colic and respiratory problems. It also has a strong effect on the nervous system, helping to relieve anxiety, headaches and insomnia. With its analgesic, antispasmodic, tonic and vasodilator properties, sweet marjoram is useful for chilblains, muscular aches and pains and stiffness. So next time you are cooking with sweet marjoram, remember how this the herb and essential oil benefit your well being.

This is general information regarding Sweet Marjoram – Origanum majorana. We encourage you to learn more about these plants through research and see how they can benefit your life. You can purchase essential oils through FrogWorks. (Essential oils are not on our website - they will be soon - please call or email to place an order or to receive our essential oil retail list.)

Four Winds Blend

Peace Blend:

This blend of frankincense, myrrh, sweet marjoram and rose essential oils is designed to give peace, love, and comfort in life’s transitions. You may use this blend as a perfume or in a room diffuser. Apply it to your wrists, neck, under your nose, forehead, acupuncture points and massage some drops onto your feet and ankles.

This peace blend was originally created to help my horse, Pete, pass on, but the use for this blend has grown. It can be used for meditation, times of stress, insomnia or for an overall feeling of peace and relaxation. A nice blend to consider during the winter months.
